Takashi Amano Photography exhibition in Rome, Italy
(June 04-June 21)
2009/05/15
Rome: Centro Internazionale Antinoo per l’arte di Roma announces an exhibition of photography by the Japanese landscape photographer, Takashi AMANO. Archivio Centrale dello Stato or Central Archives of the State (an enactment of the Ministry of Culture) is the National Archives of Italy, and houses all the official documents produced by the central government of Italy, including the original copy of the Italian national constitution. From June 4th to June 14th the central exhibition space of the Archive will be filled with the variations of natural landscape picture panels taken by a large-format camera exclusively produced by FUJIFILM for AMANO.
In this exhibition, pictures of Amazonia, mainly consisting of landscapes of Rio Negro, a largest tributary of the Amazon river, and pictures taken on the small island of Sado in Japan will be displayed in the exhibition. Takashi Amano, self-trained as a photographer, has visited tropical rainforests in Africa, Borneo, and Amazonia, since 1980 and published the natural landscape pictures taken with extra large-format film. The highest level of description quality keeps its precision even after enlarging to W 4m x H 1. 5 meter panels draws both domestic and international attention. Two picture panels of primary forest in Sado were exhibited and introduced to the world leaders at the G8 Working Lunch and G8 + G5 Outreach Working session of G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit in July, 2008 as nature representing Japan.
The exhibition, "Acqua Spettacolo e Risorsa dall'Amazzonia all'Isola di Sado" opens on Thursday, 4th of June, and continues until 14th. There is an opportunity to meet Takashi Amano on the first day of the exhibition from 6:30 to 8pm. The Archive in viale Degli Archivi is open every day from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
This exhibition is made possible by support and auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Italy, the Embassy of Brazil in Italy, Regione Lazio, Provincia di Roma, Comune di Roma, and Istituto Giapponese di Cultura of Japan Foundation.
